During the programme
During our Teacher Education in Spanish programme you'll learn about teaching methodology, literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking countries, linguistics, and second language acquisition. Furthermore, you will study pedagogics, which focuses on topics like child development psychology, working with pupils with special needs, and working in a multicultural environment. You will also prepare and teach classes and do research at your work placement school. All this prepares you for a successful career in education.
There are many opportunities for language teachers within Dutch secondary or vocational education, or you can work at a language school in The Netherlands or abroad.
If you want to start with the Teacher Education in Spanish programme, you need to have a secondary school diploma, and provide proof of English proficiency. You also need to command Spanish at CEFR level A2 or higher. A language test is part of the admission process. Of course, love for Spanish and teaching is a must!
Are you 21 years or older and you don't have a (sufficient) diploma? Then you'll need to take an admission test.
You speak Spanish and cannot wait to master the language and share your knowledge and skills with teens and young adults.
You enjoy being surrounded by others, have an affinity with young people and possess great communicative and social skills.
You are passionate about Spanish language and culture. You enjoy reading and writing and are curious about other cultures.
