Martine Verwoerd is sinds oktober 2019 als promovenda verbonden aan het lectoraat Leefstijl en Gezondheid en de Universiteit Maastricht. Zij doet promotieonderzoek naar beïnvloedbare factoren die het chronificeren van nekpijn kunnen voorspellen.
Martine heeft twaalf jaar als fysio- en manueeltherapeut in de eerstelijns fysiotherapie gewerkt. Dit heeft zij acht jaar gecombineerd met lesgeven aan de bachelor Fysiotherapie en master Orthopedische Manuele Therapie aan de Hogeschool Utrecht.
